Safer streets for our communities

Police are encouraging members of the community to be vigilant with personal safety measures after incidents of street robberies were recently reported to police.
Robbery offences are often opportunistic, with offenders selecting targets who are often unaware of their surroundings, distracted (listening to music, looking at mobile phones), or in a location that makes them a vulnerable target (poorly lit area, with little to no pedestrian or vehicle traffic).
Reported offences have indicated that offenders are targeting personal property items, such as mobile phones, wallets, bank cards and handbags.
In September, these robbery offences were reported to have occurred in the following suburbs:
Centenary Patrol Group: Runcorn, Westlake, Calamvale, Inala
Mount Gravatt/Riverside Patrol Groups: South Brisbane, Macgregor, Sunnybank, Carindale, Moorooka
Bayside Patrol Group:  Wellington Point, Wynnum West
In order to reduce the likelihood of becoming a target for a robbery, we offer the following strategies and please take the time to watch the video below.
