Detectives have commenced an investigation into the death of a baby at Sunnybank Hills this morning.
At 6am, police and emergency services were called to a residence on Sunray Street where first aid was being rendered to two babies.
Sadly, a six-week-old baby girl died at the scene. Another six-week-old baby girl was transported to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
Preliminary investigations suggest the babies were sleeping together throughout the night and were discovered unresponsive this morning.
Police are not treating the baby’s death as suspicious. A post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of the baby’s death.
Officers from the Child Protection and investigation Unit continue their investigations.
