NAIDOC Week celebrations continued throughout the week across the Bayside area last week with thousands of attendees taking the opportunity to learn more about local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
Officers from the South Brisbane District were also involved, meeting with Elders, sharing stories and reflecting on this auspicious occasion.
Superintendent Virginia Nelson said it was great to have a yarn with everyone and show off our special ‘Look to the Stars’ uniforms.
“This artwork across our uniforms is based on a collective narrative, inspired and created by a purpose built working group representing a cross-section of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and the Queensland Police Service,” Superintendent Nelson said.
Inspector Michael Dowdy said officer also had the opportunity engage with students from Dunwich School and speak to football legend, Petro Civonceva.
