Officers undertake cultural education tour of North Stradbroke Island

Police Liaison Officers from the South Brisbane District had the privilege of experiencing a unique cultural tour of North Stradbroke Island on Wednesday July 24.
The unit, many of whom have never been to the iconic part of Queensland, made the most of the day-long visit by engaging with Elders, fellow Police Officers and residents that call the island home.
Departing early in the morning on the Stradbroke Ferry, the team soon arrived at the island and were escorted to Dunwich Police Station to meet with their colleagues and to take a tour of the historic precinct.

One standing feature noted by staff was the watch house adjacent to the building.
This heritage listed part to the station is a historical focal point of the island with the last person incarcerated in the space in 2006.

After the brief tour, the PLOs soon hopped on a bus to meet local Elders Uncle Norm and Uncle
