Recently, I was given the honour of being awarded a Queensland Day award in the category of ‘sports in the community’, for my work in the two annual parkrun events I run in South Brisbane.
This nomination was a complete surprise and I was truly blown away.
Held annually and in conjunction with State Member for Mansfield, Ms Corrine McMillan MP and Macgregor ward Councillor Steven Huang, the celebrations and awards form part of Club Southside’s Queensland Day recognition for members of the community who have achieved beneficial results with projects or ongoing community services.

Each year, I organise two parkrun events, one in Mansfield (Cops n’ Robbers) and one in Wishart (Emergency Services event), highlighting issues within police such as Post Traumatic Stress, and other mental ill-health issues.
The Wishart event aims to bring the focus of the health of shift workers to the front of everyone’s mind, across all emergency
