Students reign supreme in National Reconciliation Week sports challenge

Officers from across the South Brisbane District gathered at the Acacia Ridge Murri School on Friday May 31 as part of the National Reconciliation Week Sports Challenge between students, staff and the Service.
The morning kicked off with a Student of the Month presentation by Acting Senior Sergeant Jim Bellos from the District Crime Prevention Unit, before players hit the field for the inaugural shield.
There were several touch football matches played between the junior students, senior students and Queensland Police.
The grand final was a well fought game with the senior students taking the inaugural championship with an 11 – five victory over the boys in blue.
The Honourable Leanne Enoch said that reconciliation is all about relationships.
“Our ability to work, play and support each other will help our communities move forward into the future,” Ms Enoch said.
