A teenage boy has been charged with 15 offences including serious animal cruelty after allegedly breaking into the home of an elderly woman at Upper Mount Gravatt and stabbing her dog last week.
It will be alleged sometime between the evening of May 19 and morning of May 20, a boy entered the residence and began searching through a number of rooms.
It is further alleged he then entered a bedroom where the 80-year-old female resident was asleep and located her small two-year-old dog which he stabbed multiple times with an unknown implement.
The boy then took a number of personal items from the residence, mainly jewellery, and fled the scene.
The 80-year-old woman, who is hearing impaired, located her pet the next morning deceased.
Police attended the scene and provided immediate support to the victim while forensic officers seized items of interest.
