A defining day for North Stradbroke Island

This morning Tuesday May 21, officers from across South Brisbane joined together with Senior Constable Jai Taylor from Dunwich Police Station to unveil a Look to the Stars acknowledgement plaque.
Look to the Stars is an important piece of QPS history and in the spirit of reconciliation, adorns uniforms and other materials alike.
The ceremony was held at Dunwich State School, symbolic of a meeting between local Indigenous communities who reside on the island.
As Adopt-a-Cop for the school, and master of ceremonies, Senior Constable Taylor said today’s event was symbolic of reconciliation and also for the emerging community leaders present.
In her Welcome to Country, Aunty Maree Goebel said she was proud of how relations on the island have grown.
Acknowledging the past, Aunty Maree said the Look to the Stars artwork and its guiding principles offer a way forward for community members and police alike.
