On Monday May 13, Upper Mount Gravatt Police Station became the latest station to be adorned with the Look tot he Stars artwork and acknowledgement plaque.
As part of a unique morning tea, local officers were joined by Indigenous Elders to unveil the special plaque which plays homage to the history and contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Peoples in the community, as well as recognising the vital work they do in keeping communities safe.
As master of ceremonies, Inspector Mark Stewart kept all entertained and we all enjoyed a screening of the Look to the Stars story on video as well as a special Didgeridoo performance from Mr Ian Strudwick from the Queensland Police Pipes and Drums band.
Opening up the ceremony was Uncle Sam Watson. In his Welcome to Country, Uncle Sam said he was proud of how relations between local Indigenous communities and local officers.
