Look out! Look out! There are children about!

As we head into the last week of school before the Easter School Holiday break, Volunteers and Police Liaison officers from the Mount Gravatt and Riverside Crime Prevention Unit will be hitting school zones in the ‘pace car’ to remind drivers to reduce their speed in and around school zones.
Student behaviour around school zones can be unpredictable and combined with large volumes of traffic can be a recipe for traffic chaos.
Travelling at reduced speeds will assist in the driver being able to react quickly to student behaviour in and around schools zones.
School zones have a 40km/h speed limit between designated time frames. Police conduct regular enforcement patrols of these location to ensure the safety of school students.
Pace car patrols are a passive enforcement activity designed specifically for school zones to encourage drivers to reduce their speed and be cognisant of the 40km/h speed limit during school times.
