Police Liaison Officers from the South Brisbane District have recently helped to facilitate a series of Community Empowerment Information Sessions for women from the African community around Inala and Acacia Ridge at the Acacia Ridge Community District Centre.

Over the 10 week course, officers Mary Kenyi and Nasra Aden engaged with the attendees to address important issues and connect vulnerable women to support services and local agencies in our community.
Senior Police Liaison Officer Kenyi said the aim of the program was to raise awareness of stigmatised issues and empower women with the right information to make informed decisions.
“Attendance each week has been growing and we look forward to facilitating similar sessions in the near future,” Senior PLO Kenyi said.
Week in, week out guest speakers from several organisations were invited to present to attendees who were all very receptive to the information presented.
