Torture and deprivation of liberty charges, Highgate Hill

During a two hour period police will allege a 64-year-old man was beaten and burnt at an address in Highgate Hill overnight.
Around 7.45pm the 64-year-old man was drinking with two men at a Gladstone Road address when the trio became involved in an argument.
It will be alleged the two men then started to burn the victim with a lighter and aerosol can over a two hour period.
The man managed to escape and raise the alarm.
He was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment to burns to his legs, arms, scalp and face.
Investigations by detectives from Dutton Park Criminal Investigation Branch resulted in two men– a 42-year-old Collingwood Park man and a 44-year-old Highgate Hill man- each being charged with torture, common assault, acts intended to maim/ disfigure/ disable and deprivation of liberty.
Both men have been denied police bail and are expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates
