Engaging the disengaged, police step up for youth

Today’s modern lifestyle has made all manner of our existence more simpler, faster and easier than any age before.
But for many young people the stresses and challenges presented by contemporary society has resulted in a rise in a number of social problems.
To combat these significant issues, the Queensland Police Service (South Brisbane District), Inala PCYC and Queensland Pathways State College have developed a unique initiative designed to educate young people, and to provide support to move up in the world.

The session, hosted on Tuesday, May 29 at Mount Gravatt TAFE, was used as an opportunity to highlight the work being done by Sergeant Jim Bellos, Cross Cultural Liaison Officer and PCYC’s Sergeant Gary Penny.
The two are working towards building strong community relations across the region.
In addition, the Islamic Council of Queensland and local Muslim community leader Ali Kadri used this forum to address some misconceptions
