Reconciliation Week comes to Inala

The Inala PCYC was the venue for the South Brisbane District National Reconciliation Week morning tea on Thursday, May 31.
Over 50 attendees including local Indigenous Elders, senior police representatives, students from Hymba Yumba Murri School and community organisations, all gathered to recognise and celebrate National Reconciliation Week (May 27 –  June 3).
This year’s theme is ‘Don’t keep History and Mystery’ and is an opportunity to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, customs and traditions and to share this very important knowledge to grow together as a nation.

As part of this initiative, South Brisbane District Acting Chief Superintendent Virginia Nelson APM acknowledged the value of engaging with Elders from across the community to establish positive relationships for all Australians.
Acting Chief Superintendent Nelson also had the opportunity to outline the new Queensland Police Service Artwork: Look to the Stars, produced in collaboration with Indigenous artist Jenna Lee from Gilimbaa.
