Mentoring for migrant youth

Over 100 attendees recently gathered at the Edge Auditorium, State Library at South Bank as part of the Migrant Youth Vision Project’s (MYVP) Speed Mentoring Event.
This initiative was coordinated by the MYVP and supported by the Multicultural Development Association, the Queensland African Communities Council, Queensland Program of Assistance to Survivors of Torture and Trauma, HELP Enterprises and Youth Without Borders.

International students, migrants and refugees from across the multicultural community had the opportunity to become mentors and ask questions about employment pathways to representatives from, The Queensland Police Service, Recruitment Agencies, Not for Profit Associations, Corporate Bodies and various Inter-Government Agencies.
No questions were left unanswered and many of the youth found this forum to be an ideal opportunity to build their confidence and aspire to move forward in their career development.
For mentors, this dialogue was a fantastic opportunity to give back to the next generation of willing workers through sage and practical advice.
