The Islamic College of Brisbane, Karawatha recently hosted a wonderful assembly which not only helped to recognise and celebrate the diversity of its student body, but also emphasised the key message of the day that ‘Everybody Belongs’.
Students and staff came together to showcase their: mother languages, their national dress, and what they liked about their native homelands. The nations and cultures being represented included: Afghanistan, Aceh, Algeria, Australia, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, England, Fiji, France, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Italy, Iraq, Ireland, Japan, Jordan and Palestine, Kenya, Kurdistan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Liberia, Malaysia, Morocco, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papa New Guinea, Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Syria and Turkey.
It was great to see how the school embraces cultural differences from all over the world and reinforce the universal message of peace and respect. Well done ICB!
