Cross Cultural and Police Liaison officers embrace Chinese New Year celebrations

South Brisbane District Cross Cultural and Police Liaison Unit has an enjoyable and active period at the beginning of every year till mid-March, participating in culturally diverse Chinese New Year celebration events across the Brisbane Region.
Delightfully greeting 2018 the Lunar Year of Dog, our seven police dogs and their handlers were religiously blessed by Venerable Chueh Shan at Chung Tian Buddhist Temple. Dogs are one of the best human companion animals often symbolising guidance, protection, loyalty, fidelity, faithfulness, watchfulness, and love. The framed plague contains the 2018 greetings from Venerable Master Hsing Yun with his calligraphic print of “A Family of Loyalty and Honour”, which was accepted by the Commissioner Ian Stewart and kept by Dog Squad Brisbane.

We also attended the annual Spring Festival Parade which was initiated and coordinated by Queensland Chinese United Council who are affiliated with more than 40 local Chinese associations. The council highlighted the significance
