A man is assisting police following an alleged evade police incident at Taragindi and a subsequent crash at Belmont yesterday.
It will be alleged at 2.45pm police observed a stolen white Mercedes-Benz travelling on Toohey Road at Tarragindi when police activated lights and sirens the driver accelerated away at speed.
PolAir tracked the vehicle before it travelled through the Clem 7 and Airportlink tunnels then towards the airport before travelling south on the Gateway Motorway.
At 3.05pm police observed the white Mercedes-Benz travelling southbound on the Gateway Motorway at Hemmant.
Police activated lights and sirens before the vehicle continued at high speed taking the Old Cleveland Road exit where it collided with the rear of two cars stopped at a red light.
The stolen vehicle then continued inbound on Old Cleveland Road before turning left into Creek Road travelling on various suburban streets sometimes on the wrong side of the road before returning onto Creek
